Measurements:Overall height 12 cm / 4.72 inches, maximum width across opening 11.5 cm / 4.53 inches,14th to 17th Century Ming DynastyCondition & Provenance:The jar body and its original matching lid form a complete set, free of penetrating cracks and chips. The full yellow‑glazed surface carries fine natural aged crackles caused by long‑term aging. The interior is covered with clean white glaze. The exposed foot rim bears authentic old‑wear traces and minor soil encrustation. The underglaze blue double‑circle “Daming Xuande Nian Zhi” mark on base is fully original, no modern over‑painting, grinding or restoration. This piece descends from an old Hong‑Kong Ming‑Qing porcelain collection. It was acquired in 2025 by a private Ming‑Qing imperial‑ware specialist collector in Dallas, Texas, and stored in temperature‑controlled dark display cabinet.Object Description:This yellow‑glazed covered jar was produced during the Ming Dynasty. Yellow glaze carried supreme status in ancient China, mostly reserved for imperial court usage. The vessel boasts a plump rounded silhouette with short straight mouth, full bulging belly tapering toward bottom and flat ring foot, paired with a flat‑top press‑fit lid that fits tightly against the jar mouth. Exterior is entirely coated with rich, soft yellow glaze with even smooth glaze layer and fine natural age‑related crackle patterns. The inner cavity is finished with pure white glaze, creating sharp visual contrast between interior and exterior. On the base white glaze ground sits the six‑character “Daming Xuande Nian Zhi” inscription within double blue circles, rendered in primitive neat calligraphy. Yellow‑glaze firing demanded strict kiln‑temperature control and had low success rate. This sturdy well‑proportioned covered jar survives as an intact matched set. It serves perfectly as a scholar‑studio storage vessel for display, possessing solid research value for Ming‑Qing ceramic craftsmanship as well as antique collecting and decorative appeal.
