The lacquer layer is solid with no large peeling or deep wood cracks. The multi-treasure inlaid figures, rock scenery, desks and calligraphy on the sound surface stay largely intact. Color layers of shell and colored stone figures are well preserved, only tiny minor wear exists on a few inlay edges with no big missing pieces. Gilded gold inscription "Hai Biao Long Yin" and square gilded seal carving on the back are crisp and legible without heavy abrasion. All original matching components including mountain bridge, tuning pegs and goose feet are fully retained, seven strings complete with original tassel accessory. The instrument has never been re-lacquered or professionally repaired, all original antique lacquer patina is fully preserved. This guqin was first consigned by a vintage Chinese antique musical instrument gallery in Vancouver, Canada back in 2014, then collected long-term by a private antique scholar’s item collector based in Florida, USA. It was stored in climate-controlled, low-light storage space all these years, never refinished with new lacquer or repaired on stone inlay, keeping its fully original aged condition.object Description:This Zhongni-style seven-string guqin is a high-end scholar’s collectible lacquer instrument from the 19th Qing Dynasty, inscribed with the name "Hai Biao Long Yin". Carved from one solid aged fine wood blank, the whole body is coated with thick black raw lacquer, covered in delicate continuous snake-belly crackle marks formed over hundreds of years, a classic aging feature of ancient qin instruments. The sound board is decorated with elaborate multi-treasure inlay work made of mother-of-pearl, shoushan stone and colorful hard stones, presenting a complete scene of ancient scholars gathering. Multiple robed literati figures are carved in sequential scenes: reading scrolls, meditating beside incense burners, sitting in meditation, wandering with qin in hand. Every detail including flowing colored robes, miniature mountains, scrolls, incense tables and woven baskets is exquisitely rendered. Gilded gold calligraphy poems are carved on both sides of the inlaid painting, with neat elegant brush strokes, perfectly merging painting, calligraphy and inlay craft onto the qin body. On the reverse side above the sound cavity, vertical gilded characters spell the qin’s name "Hai Biao Long Yin", paired with a neatly carved square gilded seal stamp below the cavity with rich intact gold filling. Full set of original wooden tuning pegs, head bridge and foot supports are preserved, seven strings unbroken, with traditional russet silk tassel attached at the tail. Guqins decorated with multi-treasure inlay are extremely scarce on the antique market. Qing qins like this one with complete narrative figure inlay, all original hardware and intact inscribed marks are highly sought after by international collectors specializing in ancient Chinese curios and traditional musical instruments. It carries extraordinary artistic and collectible value combining classical qin carving craft, multi-treasure hardstone inlay technique and ancient Chinese literati painting aesthetics.
