Dimensions：Height 6 cm (2.36 in), Mouth diameter 12 cm (4.72 in), Five‑Dynasties‑Northern Song,10th‑11th CenturyCondition & Provenance：The water pot is intact without cracks or major chips.Glazing remains well preserved with crisp carved lines.Rim bears minor wear from historical usage.Base shows authentic spurs from original firing,kept in original excavated condition.No modern restoration,re‑glazing or artificial polishing.This piece comes from a private Hong‑Kong‑based ancient‑ceramic collection focused on southern Yue‑kiln wares.It was purchased from a Hong Kong antique dealer in 2002 and stored in climate‑controlled environment,now released during collection reorganization.Description：This celadon water pot with carved lotus petals was produced at Yue kiln from Five Dynasties to Northern Song dynasty,as an elegant scholar‑studio vessel.It features compressed globular body with contracted rim.The exterior is fully decorated with overlapping carved upward‑pointing lotus petals.Each petal is outlined with sharp incised lines and fine inner striations.The carving work is forceful and well‑composed.Spiral wheel‑throwing marks are visible on inner base.The whole piece is covered with soft greyish‑green celadon glaze with subtle luster,the signature glaze tone of Yue ware.Flat base retains multiple firing spur marks,characteristic of Yue‑kiln firing technology of that era.Lotus motif carried strong Buddhist connotation in medieval China.Such pots functioned both as water containers for calligraphy and painting,and as ritual offerings.Yue kiln ranks among the most important ancient southern celadon producers.Although lotus‑decorated Yue‑kiln antiques survive,well‑preserved scholar‑studio water pots with sharp carving are not common.This vessel boasts antique silhouette,fluent carving and quiet glaze tone.All original manufacturing features are preserved.It stands as a fine collectible of Yue‑kiln scholar‑object.
