Dimensions: Rim Diameter 9.5 cm (3.74 in), Height 4.5 cm (1.77 in)Condition & Provenance: This lobed bowl is formed with Jun kiln’s typical coarse beige‑toned body. The unglazed foot retains original earth patina and hand‑trimming marks. No acid washing or artificial polishing has been performed. The sky‑blue glaze is fully intact across the piece, covered with natural crackle, only subtle age‑related surface wear. There are no penetrating cracks or major chips, no restored sections. The purple splashes are genuine kiln‑fired effects, no later staining or added pigment. Only light conservative dust cleaning was carried out. This bowl once belonged to a serious private collector based in Washington State, who specialized in Jin‑Yuan Jun‑ware for over thirty years. He acquired this piece from a Hong‑Kong antique gallery in 2004. After arriving in United States, it was stored long‑term in climate‑controlled private cabinet for personal study and viewing only. It has never been offered at auction or included in public exhibitions. Freshly released from family estate settlement, complete provenance files are available upon request.Description: This elegant lobed tea bowl was made at Jun kiln in Yuan dynasty, intended for tea drinking. It features undulating floral‑shaped rim, vertical indentations run down the wall following each lobe. The curved belly tapers gently toward short hand‑trimmed foot. Interior and exterior are covered with classic Jun sky‑blue glaze, fully networked with fine natural crackle. Dramatic spontaneous kiln‑changed purple‑red splashes bloom inside bowl cavity and outer surface, creating wonderful interplay of blue and violet hues. The unglazed foot reveals coarse body clay, showing characteristic craftsmanship of Yuan‑period Jun ware. Jun kiln is celebrated worldwide for its unpredictable purple splash kiln transformations. This small well‑proportioned bowl boasts attractive natural patterning and intact crackled glaze. It perfectly captures the free‑spirited aesthetic of Yuan Jun ceramics. It makes a wonderful authentic ancient tea vessel for specialized collection and study, also great for desk display.
