拍品描述
Dimensions:Height 17 cm (6‑11/16 in), Width 8 cm (3‑5/32 in); Yuan DynastyCondition & Provenance:Overall complete, minor chips and glaze losses visible on base edge and extremities of the sculpture consistent with age and burial, no major restorations. The unglazed base retains natural soil‑encrusted patina. This qingbai ceramic censer originates from a private early‑Chinese‑ceramic collection based in Chicago, Illinois. It was acquired from a European antique dealer in the late 1970s and has remained in one family collection, never previously offered for public auction.Description:This sculptural qingbai censer is composed of a hexagonal lobed vessel base surmounted by a dynamically modelled seated lion. The hexagonal body is moulded with floral patterns within segmented panels, supported by a stepped hexagonal foot. A powerful guardian lion perches atop the vessel, mouth open in a roar, detailed with bared fangs, decorative neck bells and flowing ribbon ornaments; small applied‑lotus‑leaf elements serve as smoke vents. Select details are covered with translucent bluish‑white qingbai glaze, while the main body and lion figure retain the unglazed porous biscuit body. Yuan‑dynasty qingbai sculptural censers of this type reflect folk religious and scholarly‑studio customs. The piece displays lively, unrefined folk‑art modelling characteristic of Jingdezhen folk‑ceramic production of the period.
