Subtle age‑related surface wear appears across the glaze. Full‑body natural crackle network is well‑preserved. This ge‑type zhadou comes from a distinguished private ancient‑ceramic collection based in Houston, Texas. It was sourced from a continental European antique gallery in the early 1980s and has remained within a single private family estate, never previously offered for public auction.Description:This elegant zhadou features a lobed flower‑form foliated rim, a flaring tall neck, a bulging globular mid‑section and short circular foot ring. It is fully coated inside and out with a warm brown‑toned ge‑type glaze, covered by an all‑over dense interwoven crackle pattern of golden‑hued fissures against dark‑brown glaze ground. The glaze surface carries a gentle lustre. The foot‑ring reveals fine reddish‑brown ceramic body. Zhadou vessels were used within the scholar’s studio, for holding waste water. This ge‑type foliate‑rim zhadou exemplifies the restrained aesthetic of Song‑dynasty scholar taste, harmoniously balanced in silhouette with rich natural crackle glaze texture throughout the entire piece.
