It was acquired from a European auction house in mid‑1980s and has remained within one private family estate, never previously offered for public auction.Description:This tall ewer features a flared spout‑form mouth, neck decorated with concentric spiral ridges, full rounded ovoid body and short tapered foot. The body is finely incised with a sinuous dragon motif in lively scrolling linework; the lower portion is encircled by a band of overlapping lotus‑petal incised decoration. The vessel is covered with an off‑white creamy matte glaze. The base bears an incised inscription “Shang Shi Ju”, an imperial‑institution mark of the Liao court. Liao‑Dynasty Ding‑type wares reflect the integration of northern nomadic aesthetic and central‑plain ceramic craftsmanship. This piece exhibits vigorous incised dragon carving, well‑proportioned silhouette and rare official‑style base mark, making it a representative northern ceramic artifact of the Liao period.
