Dimensions：Height 6 cm (2‑3/8 in), Mouth Diameter 11 cm (4‑5/16 in); Song DynastyCondition & Provenance：This genuine Jian‑ware tea bowl retains its full‑bodied original structure without major structural fractures, glued segments or large restorative fills.Inside the bowl, striking jet‑black hare’s‑fur filaments radiate outward from the dark central well against a warm russet‑gold glaze background, creating a vivid sun‑burst pattern;the exterior is covered with uniform honey‑brown glaze decorated with scattered dark flowing fur‑like streaks. The glaze thins naturally along the rim, revealing the coarse granular rust‑brown Jian‑kiln clay body at the lip, showing gentle, age‑related wear accumulated from centuries of historical use, with only trivial scattered tiny surface frits along the rim;there is no modern rim grinding,no repainting and no artificial glaze enhancement. The short robust ring foot exposes the signature heavy, gritty iron‑rich terracotta body of Jian ware, well‑defined hand‑thrown concentric spiral turning marks are clearly visible across the base plane.Ancient burial‑related earthen patina and subtle mineral deposits nestle within the foot recess and fine glaze micro‑cracks;the glaze‑termination line above the foot shows natural uneven glaze shrinkage and slight drip traces formed during original high‑temperature kiln firing. No signs of synthetic chemical artificial ageing can be detected. This lovely small‑format russet‑gold hare’s‑fur Jian tea bowl originates from a respected private collection focused on Song tea‑ware located in Denver,Colorado. The former owner obtained this piece through a reputable Hong‑Kong antique gallery in the mid‑1990s.It has been safely preserved in the same single‑family private estate through successive decades of inheritance, and this marks its very first presentation on the public auction marketplace.Description：Wheel‑thrown classic Jian‑kiln tea bowl,a representative artifact of Song‑dynasty whisked‑tea culture. It features the iconic deep conical profile, moderately flared rim and sturdy short ring foot, perfectly shaped for Song‑period tea‑whisking activities. The vessel is coated with thick iron‑rich glaze. At extreme kiln temperatures, iron‑oxide components melt and flow spontaneously, generating spectacular radiating hare’s‑fur veins:fine black hair‑like streaks spread outward from the bowl’s center onto the lustrous russet‑gold glaze field. The outer wall is enveloped in harmonious honey‑brown glaze interspersed with diffused dark fur streaks flowing down toward the foot ring.Glaze stops above the foot ring to expose the distinctive coarse, heavy iron‑laden Jian‑ware clay body.Concentric hand‑throwing spiral lines preserved on the base faithfully document ancient Jian‑kiln workshop craftsmanship.Russet‑gold hare’s‑fur Jian tea bowls were highly admired by Song literati and tea connoisseurs. This well‑preserved small‑sized specimen boasts excellent pattern vitality,it serves as an authentic physical reference for researching Song‑dynasty iron‑glaze firing techniques, tea‑drinking customs and the aesthetic pursuits of Song society.
