Dimensions:Diameter 9cm (3‑9/16in), Height 5.5cm (2‑3/16in)Condition & Provenance:Alright, let’s closely examine this authentic Song‑dynasty Jian‑style splashed‑glaze tea bowl. This celebrated Song‑period tea bowl survives intact without penetrating cracks, no major chip losses and no invasive restoration or glaze filling. You may inspect the rounded deep‑bowl profile, coarse iron‑rich unglazed foot base, and spectacular flowing mottled glaze effect. The thick glaze layer displays rich interplay of russet‑orange, bronze‑brown and iridescent deep‑blue streaking, with natural glaze termination above the foot. Gentle age‑related surface wear is visible across the glaze and foot, consistent with ancient use and long‑term burial. All patina and surface condition are original; there is no modern refinishing or artificial colour enhancement. The exposed foot shows coarse granular iron‑rich clay typical of southern Song black‑ware production. This remarkable tea bowl originates from a distinguished private East‑Asian ceramic collection based in Paris, France. The prior collector acquired this piece from a reputable Hong‑Kong antiquities dealer in the early 1990s; it has remained safely preserved in this single‑family private estate for more than thirty years and is presented to public auction for the very first time.Description:This Song‑dynasty Jian‑style tea‑bowl has a classic deep rounded form, supported by a short, rough‑cut unglazed foot of iron‑heavy dark clay. The interior and exterior are covered with a thick, opulent splashed‑mottled glaze. Fiery russet‑brown and amber‑orange fields interweave with branching streaks of deep blue‑black iridescence, forming natural abstract floral‑like patterns radiating outward from the bowl’s centre. Variations in colour and texture result from complex kiln‑firing transformations. Bowls of this type were highly treasured for whisked‑tea culture during the Song dynasty. This is a visually striking, well‑preserved representative specimen of Song‑dynasty splashed‑glaze black ceramic.
