Dimensions：H.30.3cm（H.0.994ft） Condition & Provenance：This octagonal jar features age‑related glaze crazing across body, no chips. Only minimal rim wear from long‑term handling. Painted blue‑and‑white surfaces remain largely intact. Old soil deposits and stains are visible inside jar. The unglazed base has solid coarse body clay, with one old fine crack at base center, an ancient original flaw from burial circulation, no modern grinding, no chemical cleaning and no restorations. Natural old patina covers glaze, minor soil erosion spots scattered over cobalt painting. From private collection of D·W, Dallas, Texas, USA. The collector focused heavily on Yuan blue‑and‑white masterpieces. Acquired from well‑established local Dallas oriental art gallery in 1996, passed down through two generations of family, stored in climate‑controlled storage room, never consigned to auction and never shown in public exhibitions. Description：This massive octagonal blue‑and‑white jar was fired at Jingdezhen kiln during Yuan dynasty. It boasts eight faceted sides, flared mouth, short thick neck, full rounded belly tapering toward base, thick heavy body and unglazed octagonal sandy base. Neck is decorated with rolling wave and scroll patterns. Surface is divided by octagonal framed panels. Upper panels render seasonal blooming flowers with full layered petals. Central main panels illustrate multiple classic scholar figure narratives. Robust fluid lines define flowing robes, vivid facial expressions for each character. Background scenery includes rugged pine trees, ganoderma lucidum fungus, rocks and plants. Every framed scene works independently while harmonizing with surrounding panels. Lower panels are filled with eight auspicious treasure motifs. Cobalt blue tone carries typical Yuan grey‑blue undertone, executed in bold free‑hand brushwork with rich layered composition. Natural glaze crazing covers both interior and exterior. Visible wheel‑throwing marks on inner wall, sandy rough base bears kiln sand and ancient soil stains. Large‑sized octagonal Yuan jar with figural theme is extremely scarce, its survival speaks volumes for outstanding porcelain‑making and painting craftsmanship of Yuan Jingdezhen.
