Description:This is an imperial Doucai ritual tea‑wine cup for Buddhist worship, dating to the Chenghua reign of Ming dynasty. Slightly flared rim, gently tapering curved body supported by low foot‑ring, elegant delicate shape with fine thin porcelain body. Two thin underglaze‑blue lines decorate the outer rim, interior plain with lustrous white glaze. Exterior is fully adorned with Doucai interlocking lotus scrolls, winding branches in full bloom with well‑layered petals and luxuriant foliage. Auspicious Sanskrit characters are interspersed among flowers, outlined in underglaze‑blue for blessing prayer. A band of Doucai ruyi‑cloud motifs encircles near the foot. All patterns are outlined in underglaze‑blue and filled with red, yellow and green enamels. Soft cobalt tone and refined enamel application represent the classic aesthetic of Chenghua imperial porcelain. Six‑character reign mark “Da Ming Cheng Hua Nian Zhi” within blue square frame in regular script is painted on base. The Ming court deeply revered Buddhism; porcelain with lotus‑Sanskrit motifs were used for Buddhist ceremonies. Surviving examples are scarce, combining religious meaning and supreme ceramic craftsmanship, possessing remarkable cultural and collectible value.
