Guanyin stands atop a mythical beast. The Bodhisattva possesses full, serene facial features. Her hood is decorated with underglaze‑blue cloud patterns. Dressed in wide‑sleeve robes with fluid drapery folds, the garment is painted with ruyi‑heads, geometric brocade and scrolling flowers. Hands clasp at abdomen holding prayer beads. The mythical beast below has wide‑open eyes and bared teeth, flanked by small fish amidst surging wave‑rock base rendered in cobalt blue. Reverse hood is fully painted with cloud scrolls. Unglazed flat base retains textile mat firing marks. Rich saturated cobalt‑blue colour integrates sculptural art with porcelain painting. Guanyin riding mythical beast is a classic Buddhist theme. Surviving Yuan blue‑and‑white Buddhist porcelain figures are extremely scarce, representing a precious Yuan‑period ceramic relic.
