Formerly private collection of Arthur Miller, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A. Acquired from Hong Kong antique gallery in 1970s, passed down within family. Never appeared in public auction, no exhibition or publication records. Description:An official blue‑and‑white jar dating to Xuande reign of Ming dynasty. Short straight mouth, full shoulders, globular body tapering toward base, flat base inscribed with six‑character “Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi” mark within double blue circle. The mouth rim is decorated with upward‑facing lotus and floral motifs; shoulder is adorned with scrolling vines and scattered floral sprigs. The main body is painted with striding kui‑dragon. The mythical beast features curled snout, open jaws and flowing manes, interspersed with scrolling foliage in bold, fluid brushwork. The lower portion is encircled by stylized lotus‑petal band filled with cloud scrolls. The underglaze blue is rich and saturated with characteristic iron‑rust speckles of Xuande porcelain. Dense solid body covered by creamy lustrous glaze. This is a fine official Ming Xuande blue‑and‑white vessel for display and daily use.
