It features flared rim, shallow curved wall and thick unglazed sand base. The central interior depicts a classic lotus‑pond scene: willow overhangs luxuriant lotus blooms and floating duckweed, a pair of mandarin ducks swimming vividly among pond plants. Inner rim is encircled by scrolling floral border; exterior is fully decorated with scrolling lotus with full‑blown blossoms and lush foliage. The cobalt pigment renders deep‑toned decoration with free‑flowing brushwork, characteristic of Yuan blue‑and‑white aesthetic. Mandarin‑duck‑lotus‑pond is an auspicious symbol for harmony and conjugal bliss, widely favoured in Yuan porcelain. Rich composition and spirited painting, surviving examples of this quality are uncommon, ranking among fine Yuan blue‑and‑white wares.
