It is of compressed circular form with fitted mother‑son mouth and unglazed sandy foot. The cover top is centrally painted with a celebrated “bound‑lotus” motif: lotus blooms, seed pods and leaves bundled together with fluttering ribbon ties, a classic auspicious motif of Yuan period. The rim of cover is encircled by a band of upward‑pointing lotus petals. Outer wall of base is decorated with continuous spiral scrolls divided by double‑line borders. The under‑glaze cobalt presents grey‑tinged blue tone with spontaneous, unrefined brushwork and well‑balanced composition. Body clay is solid, glaze is bluish‑white. The sandy base displays authentic period‑related aging marks. Boxes of this type were used for cosmetics or scholar‑studio paste‑ink. Surviving examples are scarce, making this a representative small‑sized Yuan blue‑and‑white utensil.
