拍品描述
A CHINESE PAINTING OF MONK, SIGNED XU BEIHONG Image only size 60 cm by 53 cm. Oil on canvas, measuring 60 × 53 cm. A compelling bust‑length portrait of a Chinese monk, rendered with realistic western oil‑painting techniques. The sitter, bald‑headed in dark‑toned monastic robes, gazes calmly toward the viewer against a muted sombre background. Signed Xu Beihong in the lower right corner. This work merges western realist portraiture with Chinese spiritual subject matter, showcasing the artist’s mastery of oil medium, capturing solemn temperament and subtle facial modelling with rich tonal gradations.
