Chinese Bronze Rectangular Censer

拍品描述

Chinese Bronze Rectangular Censer H. 14.5 cm. W. 14.5 cm. A Chinese bronze rectangular incense burner of ma‑cao form, fitted with two upright angular side handles. The bronze body displays a mellow aged patina. It is topped by an openwork carved hardwood cover surmounted by a pale jade finial, and rests upon a matching hardwood stand with archaistic open‑cut fretwork. H. 14.5 cm, W. 14.5 cm. The clean straight lines of the vessel contrast against the scrolling carving of the lid, presenting a refined scholarly aesthetic.
