Chinese Rock Crystal Su‑Cai Carved Ornament

拍品描述

Chinese Rock Crystal Su‑Cai Carved Ornament H. 8.7 cm. W. 16 cm. A lidded rock‑crystal vessel cleverly utilising natural colour inclusions for contrast carving. The translucent crystal bears warm amber‑hued suffusions, juxtaposed with a dark green hard‑stone inset forming the mythical creature’s head. The body is densely decorated with fine relief scrollwork and feather detailing, while the cover is surmounted by a reclining beast finial. Smooth polished surfaces highlight the stone’s luminous transparency. Dimensions: Height 8.7 cm, Width 16 cm. This imaginative piece demonstrates accomplished Chinese colour‑adapted hard‑stone carving technique.
