拍品名(英):A Set of Four Landscape Hanging Scrolls_Qi Baishi, 20th Century 文案(中):齊白石(1864-1957),名璜,號白石,湖南湘潭人。 文案(英):Qi Baishi (1864-1957), born Qi Huang in Xiangtan, Hunan, was a towering figure in modern Chinese painting. This set of four scrolls represents his late free-style landscape idiom, rendered in level-distance composition depicting village dwellings, willow banks with returning sails, maple forests in evening glow, and bamboo pavilions with chess-playing scenes. Executed with bold, straightforward brushwork and bright colouring, they break free from the orthodoxy of the Four Wangs to establish a highly personal style. Each scroll bears an individual title and seals including "Qi Baishi" and "Mu Ren". The four-scroll set is a traditional Chinese mounting format, ideal for displaying the scenery of the four seasons. Qi Baishi (1864- 1957), born Qi Huang in Xiangtan, Hunan, was a towering figure in modern Chinese painting.
