文案(英)：Liang Kai, sobriquet "Madman Liang", was a Southern Song academy painter who resigned his post to pioneer the "abbreviated brush" style, founding freehand figure painting. This silk work depicts Bodhidharma standing beneath a gnarled plum tree in a red robe, with solemn demeanour – classic Chan Buddhist figure painting. Bodhidharma, the Indian Chan patriarch, meditated facing a wall for nine years at Shaolin Temple. The plum-and-Bodhidharma motif combines Chan spirituality with the plum blossom’s symbolism of resilience. Though more detailed than Liang’s typical spare style, this work vividly captures the subject’s spirit, representing Southern Song Chan painting. A Painting of Bodhidharma under Plum Blossoms_Liang Kai, Southern Song Dynasty Liang Kai, sobriquet "Madman Liang", was a Southern Song academy painter who resigned his post to pioneer the "abbreviated brush" style, founding freehand figure painting.
