拍品描述

A CLAIR-DE-LUNE-GLAZED GARLIC-MOUTH VASE, SUANTOUHU, 18TH CENTURY China. The monochrome vessel is elegantly potted, rising from a short, slightly spreading foot to a compressed globular body, surmounted by a tall slender neck swelling gently toward a bulbous garlic-form mouth with a short straight rim. Covered overall in a smooth clair-de-lune glaze of soft pale blue tone, the recessed base glazed white. Dimensions: Height 18 cm Expert’s note: Notable for its elegant silhouette and luminous tianlan (‘sky-blue’) glaze, the present vase draws upon an ancient bronze prototype while reinterpreting it in porcelain. Its squat globular body, tall slender neck, and distinctive garlic-shaped mouth recall suantouhu vessels of the Han dynasty.
