A LARGE (38 CM) BRONZE HAND OF BUDDHA, AYUTTHAYA KINGDOM

拍品描述

A LARGE (38 CM) BRONZE HAND OF BUDDHA, AYUTTHAYA KINGDOM Thailand, 17th-18th century. The left hand of Buddha naturally cast, its long undulating fingers with curled tips forming the dhyana mudra and palm facing upward. The bluish-gray bronze with few malachite encrustations. Dimensions: Length 38 cm Expert’s note: The present lot is remarkable for its exceptionally large size. As the hand of a standing Thai Buddhist figure typically accounts for no more than approximately 10–15% of its total height, even a conservative estimate suggests that the monumental figure to which this hand once belonged must have stood at least two meters tall.
