A Japanese mixed metal 'chestnut' incense box and cover (kogo) with gilt archaic script seal mark possibly by the kinko metal worker Eiri, Meiji period (1868-1912) organic bronzed copper shell in the form of a ripe chestnut (kuri) with high relief taka-zogan inlaid butterfly and green enamel beetle, the interior with gilt metal liner, 11 cm x 10 cm x 6.5 cm high
