Drawing extensively from Song and Yuan masterpieces, his works feature elegant, crisp brushwork and a refined archaic aura, excelling in landscape, figure and flower-and-bird subjects. This work *Visiting a Friend with a Zither* depicts towering peaks, winding rivers, villages nestled in wooded foothills, a scholar bearing a zither along a mountain path, and fishing boats drifting on the water. With a well-structured deep perspective, delicate serene brushwork and subtle timeless colouring, it embodies the poetic charm of traditional literati landscape painting as a classic example of his landscape-figure repertoire.
