Excelling in bird-and-flower painting, he integrated Chinese and Western techniques with bright, fresh colouring and a blend of fine and freehand brushwork; his running-script calligraphy is crisp and fluid. This twelve-leaf album of fan-shaped bird-and-flower paintings and running-script calligraphy features diverse subjects, well-structured composition, vivid and elegant flora and fauna, and free, natural inscriptions, combining the sketching spirit of the Lingnan School with literati scholarly charm.
