拍品描述
AN ENGLISH STATUARY MARBLE FIGURE OF A YOUNG BOY ALLEGORICAL OF AUTUMN ATTRIBUTABLE TO JOSEPH WILTON (1722-1803) 18th century, signed 'IW' to the reverse of the naturalistic base, the naked figure modelled holding a sheaf of wheat aloft in his right hand and a bunch of grapes the other, wearing a headdress of seasonal fruit, 131cm high Breamore House. This fine English country house marble is typical of Wilton's early works. It is recorded that he was commissioned to make a number of allegorical figures of the seasons, notably for The South Tower of Wentworth Woodhouse, under the instruction of Lady Rockingham.
