Ancient Persian Luristan Tanged Bronze Blade, Raised Midrib

拍品描述

Near East, Persia, Luristan or Amlash type, ca. 1500–800 BCE. A cast bronze tanged blade with a long, tapering triangular body and a raised central midrib that runs from the shoulders to the point. It is attributed to the Bronze Age or early Iron Age, and its form corresponds to blades associated with Luristan in the west and Amlash in the north. The broad, sloping shoulders narrow sharply to a short rectangular tang for hafting into a handle or shaft. Testing indicates a high-tin bronze alloy of approximately 70% copper and 26% tin.
