A Chinese Civil rank robe with embroidered rank badges Late Qing dynasty, circa 1910 The slightly padded black silk button-front robe with attached 'Silver Pheasant' rank badges front and back, each worked in vibrant multicolored and metal thread embroidery and beadwork featuring a central pheasant bird applique motif amid other auspicious motifs including stylized bats, peaches, and foliage, with waves and deep water and a floral fretwork motif border, fully lined in blue silk and fastened with corded loops and brass-toned floral buttons Center back height 44 1/4 in., width 22 1/2 in.
