Jean Baptiste van Eycken (1809-1853) Madonna and child with angels Oil on canvas laid to canvas Signed lower left under the frame's spandrel: Jean Van Eycken; numbered in black, in another hand, "#7734" on the stretcher Sight: 41 x 33 in.; Overall: 42 x 34 in. Other Notes: A photo of the signature is affixed to the frame's backing board. Blacklight: Scattered larger areas of touch-up in the shadows of the Madonna's cape, the largest is approximately 15 x 1 inches. Also touch-up in her hair and the shadows of the right side of her face. Another larger area of touch-up in the water, measuring 2 x 12 inches. Many other smaller spots of touch-up along the edges where the frame touches the painting, and in other places in the background. The faces appear to be untouched under blacklight. Frame: 44 1/4 x 51 3/4 x 3 1/2 in. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request.
