拍品描述
R. Sebastinuti (19th Century) A portrait of a Victorian woman Oil on canvas Signed lower left: R. Sebastinuti 27 1/4 x 22 in. Blacklight: The signature (in red) may possibly be enhanced or added. As mentioned above, there is a pea-sized spot of touch-up to a puncture near the sitter's eye, along with a pinhead-sized spot of touch-up in the eye. Just above the signature there is 1 1/2 x 2 inch area of touch-up with a pea-sized spot of touch-up nearby. Other larger areas of likely touch-up in the dark red background, especially along the upper edges, and possibly touches in the hair. An older, uneven varnish layer makes it a bit hard to read under blacklight and it may obscure other areas of restoration. Frame: 40 x 34 1/2 x 6 in. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
