A large Louis Vuitton steamer trunk Early 20th century, France The extra-large trunk with LV monogram canvas and stamped leather trim to exterior, branded leather handles, wood slats to the lid and body, and brass colored hardware including a branded lock, multiple latches, corners, and rivets, the trunk to be placed vertically when opened, revealing an orange fabric-lined interior, the right side with six fabric-lined drawers, the top drawer with various sections, three with integral glazed cotton covers, and the left side with velvet lined ‘lid,’ steel racking, bars, and brackets holding multiple branded wooden hangers and other parts, with a removable lidded shoe box to base; one end of the exterior with larger wooden rails Applied leather label to case end: Louis Vuitton / Asnieres / S/Seine / PARIS _70, Champs Elysees / NICE_ 4, Jardin Public / LONDON_ 149, New Bond St. / Modele Depose; ink stamped serial number: 773766 [faint, or 753766]; similar leather label to shoe box further marked: LILLE_ 34 Rue Faidherbe / Modele Depose; ink-stamped serial number: 760861; lock stamped for Louis Vuitton; serial number 063706 Height 26 1/4 in., width 45 in., depth 22 in.
