SHE XUEMAN 1908 - 1993 Calligraphy in Running Script ink on paper Inscribed and signed, with one red seal of the artist Dedicated to Qi Jilan (Nancy Lee). 62 x 42.5cm PROVENANCE: Collection of Qi Jilan (Nancy Lee), thence by descent. Qi Jilan, also known as Nancy Lee, was the daughter of Dr. Sheo-nan Cheer (Qi Shounan) and Dr. Tao Zhongchen. A notable testament to the family's distinguished cultural heritage is an inscribed Western Han dynasty ink rubbing presented by Duanfang (1861-1911) to his niece Tao Zhongchen in 1909. The rubbing was subsequently preserved within the family and was later donated by Nancy Lee to the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
