Billy Al Bengston (American, 1934-2022), Untitled, watercolor, artist studio label affixed verso, sheet: 17.25"h x 20.25"w, overall (with frame): 29"h x 32"w. Provenance: From the collection of Dennis Roberts, a prominent civil rights attorney. Beginning in the early 1960s, Roberts worked alongside legendary Georgia attorney C.B. King. He later served on the defense teams of the Chicago 8 in 1968 and Angela Davis from 1970-1972. Based in Oakland, Roberts was a witness to and participant in the defining legal battles of his generation.
