A Chinese semi-formal kesi blue-ground robe. Finely worked with symmetrically arranged roundels woven with butterflies amid blossoms of hydrangea macrophylla and gourd, all above the terrestrial diagram and lishui stripes separated by polychrome lingzhi clouds and foaming waves interspersed by the Eight Buddhist emblems, 19th century, mounted in a plexiglass shadow box, 52.5"h x 67.5"w.
