拍品描述
Untitled (Kneeling Hunter) Stone, bone, and mixed media h. 6.25 x w. 4 x d. 5 in. Signed in Inuktitut syllabics on the underside; the figure is carved from mottled green and brown stone with an inset bone face and a separate wood and bone harpoon. This sculpture is stylistically consistent with works from the Gjoa Haven (Uqsuqtuuq) community in Nunavut, Canada. The use of mottled serpentine stone and a separate bone or antler insert for the face is a hallmark of this region's artistic output. The base features a clear signature in Inuktitut syllabics. Similar mid-sized figurative carvings from the mid-to-late 20th century by Gjoa Haven artists like Nelson Takkiruq or Judas Ullulaq are established staples of the Inuit art market. h. 6.25 x w. 4 x d. 5 in.
