The composition depicts a literati tea gathering in a courtyard. Distant mountains rendered in faint ink, with an ancient gnarled tree stretching across the upper part. In the foreground, several scholars sit and converse by the balustrade; two boy attendants prepare tea, while another servant unfurls a scroll. Figures are vividly portrayed with fluid and archaic drapery lines. Well-balanced composition, calm brushwork and subdued colour palette following the figure-painting tradition of Song and Yuan dynasties. Inscribed on the left side with refined calligraphy.
