The painting depicts sparse autumn willows on a sloped bank rendered with free and restrained brushwork. A scholar sits leisurely on the ground, dressed in plain wide robe with blue headscarf, serene and tranquil, admiring autumn scenery with refined temperament. The figure is drawn with fluid outlines and subtle colouring, freely rendered robes capturing the detached demeanour of ancient literati. Poetic calligraphy inscription on upper right: *By the riverbank I enjoy the fine scenery; willows brew the fresh autumn. Reciting verses, I wander to the tavern away from the bustle. Transcribing old poem, Zhang Daqian*, with two artist seals. Several additional collector seals on the painting. Zhang Daqian’s figure painting inherited masters of Ming and Qing dynasties. This work features spacious composition and elegant charm, integrating painting, calligraphy, poetry and seals, a representative fine work of his scholar theme. The scroll is well preserved with neat old mounting, retaining full artistic vitality. 纸本设色，原装旧裱立轴。画面绘秋柳坡岸，枯枝疏柳，笔墨简淡潇洒。高士席地闲坐，身着素色宽袖长袍，蓝巾束发，神态悠然，静赏秋景，风骨清逸。人物线条流畅灵动，设色淡雅，衣纹洒脱，将古代文人超然旷达之态刻画入微。 右上行书题诗：**江干日把妙芻蒭，柳酿新秋。短咏长吟，去市邪间酒楼。录旧句，张大千**，钤两方名章；画面另钤多方鉴藏闲章。 张大千人物画取法明清先贤，此作构图疏朗，气韵清雅，诗书画印一体，为其高士题材典型佳作。整幅立轴保存完好，旧裱规整，书画神采完备。
