Format: Mounted painting, ink and color on paper Seals: One red artist seal below the inscription at lower left Publication: No record of publication Description This flower-and-bird painting on paper by Fang Fengfu depicts a tranquil southern garden scene. A gnarled ancient tree dominates the composition, rendered with rich, mature ink. Some branches bear emerald feathery foliage, with many colourful birds perching among the twigs. Beside the tree stands a wooden frame with a rope hammock, where two bright-plumaged birds rest peacefully. The ground is washed with deep green for grass, and aquatic plants with orange blossoms appear at the lower right. Combining landscape and bird-and-flower motifs, the work features well-balanced composition, fresh and vivid colours, blending freehand brushwork with decorative charm. It conveys the quiet, relaxing charm of southern countryside, a fine example of the artist’s bird-and-flower paintings.
