It depicts peonies and two white pigeons in classical meticulous heavy-colour style. The peony branches are rugged, leaves rendered with layered green washes. Full-bloom peonies in pale pink and deep crimson are exquisitely painted with detailed stamens, symbolizing prosperity. Two white pigeons have fine delineated feathers, black tail feathers and red claws. One perches on rock, the other walks gently on grass, creating a balanced dynamic composition. The pale warm background is dotted with wildflowers. Inscription in regular script on upper right with several seals. Yu Zhizhen and Liu Lishang are masters of modern meticulous flower-and-bird painting.
