Format: Hanging scroll, colour and ink on paper Seals: Red artist seal at lower right Publication: No recorded publication Description This meticulous coloured hanging scroll depicts a lady angling beside the lake. The sprawling peach blossom tree with clusters of pink blooms fills the upper part of the painting, evoking rich spring atmosphere. Standing on the bank, the lady wears a cloth hood and simple dress, straw sandals, with a fishing basket on her back. She holds a fishing rod by the water, with a calm and gentle expression. Distant mountains and vast lake are rendered with pale washes in flat perspective. Slender grass and rocks decorate the near shore, and ripples spread on the water surface. Executed with refined, steady brushwork and soft muted colours, the layered composition portrays the tranquil leisure of a fisher maiden in spring, combining the elegance of traditional meticulous figure painting and the serene charm of landscape backdrop.
