A Set of Two Seals: Shoushan Stone Chilong Knob Seal & Hetian Jade Cicada Knob Seal This lot comprises two scholar’s seals. The first is a square seal of translucent Shoushan stone with honey-amber tone and mellow patina. The top is carved in high relief with a coiled chilong beast with elegant cloud scrolls. Running-script colophon is inscribed on the side with mature carving technique; the seal face bears red seal script with classical composition, full of epigraphic charm. The second is a square Hetian jade seal with cicada knob. The jade is fine-grained with natural black-and-white suffused patina. The cicada knob is carved in simple archaic lines, symbolizing “soaring success”. The seal face is incised with ancient seal characters in plain style. One stone and one jade, one red and one white impression, with different motifs. Both are fine carving works for studio use and collection.
