Qing Dynasty, Rose Quartz Tripod Censer with Beast Knop and Twin Beast Handles This censer is carved from a single block of natural rose quartz, featuring soft pale pink tone, translucent crystal texture and natural inclusions. The domed lid is surmounted by a vividly carved mythical beast knop with raised head and curled tail. Symmetrical beast-head handles extend from both sides of the body, with elegant curled terminals. The vessel stands on three short feet. Modelled after ancient bronze ding censer, it is exquisitely carved with smooth lines and dignified shape. Carving a large rose quartz monolith is technically demanding. It is a fine Qing scholar’s decorative object for studio display, a desirable antique jade and stone ornament.
