jade 8 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 2 3/8 in, 22.3 x 12.2 x 6 cm Modelled in the form of a flattened archaic hu. The rounded body supported on a flaring foot, tapering to a waisted neck flanked with a pair of loose ring handles. Carved in low relief to both sides with bird and flower scenes in a mountainous landscape. The stone of a pale celadon tone with dark inclusions. PROVENANCE Acquired in China by a Prominent Private Collection, Montreal, circa 1960s
