porcelain 14 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 10 in, 36.8 x 31.8 x 25.4 cm The globular jar with a wide pronounced waist and flanked by a pair of orange beast head handles, the body decorated with a tree containing nine peaches amongst green leaves, its base with a sprig of lingzhi fungus, all above a band of multi-coloured dentals, the cover decorated with five peaches and a wide-eyed bat. Base with six-character Guangxu mark in underglaze blue. Mr. Yen-Chiu Pei (1903-1980) was a businessman and banker associated with the China and South Sea bank, and one of the co-chairmen of Hong Kong's Smart-Shirt company.
