jade 2 1/4 x 0 3/4 x 0 1/8 in, 5.7 x 1.9 x 0.3 cm Carved in the round, the bird with folded wings standing vertically with a short beak and two upturned crests, one of which contains a pierced hole, the sides with stylized grooves throughout. The jade mostly a dark reddish-brown tone with opaque sections along the top edge. PROVENANCE An Important Private Collection, Hong Kong and Toronto, 1980s
