拍品描述

Property from an Asian private collection 亞洲私人收藏 each 10.1 cm 來源 香港蘇富比1992年4月28日,編號169 香港佳士得2007年11月27日,編號1704 The elegant register of stylised honeysuckle (rendong) scrolls seen on the current lot represents a classic evolution of early Buddhist art. Meaning 'enduring winter' — a reference to its evergreen nature through the cold season — the honeysuckle (also known as jinyinhua) traditionally carried deep spiritual connotations of resilience and cyclical rebirth. While its early application was largely confined to the cave-temple architecture of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, its adaptation onto imperial porcelain reinterpreted the motif to convey longevity, unyielding strength, and eternal blessings. A Daoguang wucai bowl of this size and pattern in the Roemer Museum, Hildesheim, is illustrated in the Ohlmer Collection Catalogue, no. 122, and a doucai example from the Simon Kwan Collection was included in the Chinese University of Hong Kong Exhibition of Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, 1983, Catalogue no. 27. A Yongzheng bowl of the same pattern is included in the Illustrated Catalogue of Ch'ing Dynasty Porcelain in the Palace Museum, pl. 94. Two further Daoguang examples were in these rooms, 5th April 2017, lot 3705, and more recently 20th May 2026, lot 3390.
