英文品名：LIU SONGNIAN, WATCHING THE SPRING IN THE PINE VALLEY, INK AND COLOUR ON PAPER, HANGING SCROLL 尺寸：L:110cm;W:45cm 紙本設色，立軸。圖繪峻嶺屏列，飛泉漱石，山坳間松林掩映，草亭翼然。近景坡石蒼松虯曲，一翁策杖行於溪橋之上；遠山以花青暈染，雲氣出沒。畫右上題「松壑觀泉」，並署款鈐印。取傳統北派山水構圖，峰巒渾厚，勾勒皴染並用，設色清潤。劉松年，南宋錢塘（今杭州）人，宋孝宗淳熙間入畫院，寧宗朝授畫院待詔，賜金帶。工山水、人物，師董源、巨然而上追李唐，筆精意遠，多寫西湖園林與江南平遠之景。與李唐、馬遠、夏圭合稱「南宋四家」。 A hanging scroll, ink and colour on paper. Steep cliffs rise above a waterfall tumbling over rocks, pines and a thatched pavilion nestling in the valley. In the foreground an elderly scholar with a staff crosses a stream bridge among gnarled pines; distant peaks are washed in blue amid drifting mist. At the upper right is an inscription reading Watching the Spring in the Pine Valley, with a signature and seals. The composition follows the northern landscape manner, with firm texture strokes and a clear palette. Liu Songnian was a court painter of the Southern Song, active under emperors Xiaozong and Ningzong, a native of Qiantang, modern Hangzhou. Granted the title Painter-in-Attendance with the gold belt, he followed Dong Yuan, Juran and Li Tang in landscape and excelled at figures, often painting West Lake gardens and southern level-distance scenery. Together with Li Tang, Ma Yuan and Xia Gui he is named one of the Four Masters of Southern Song.
