英文品名：ZENG GUOFAN, SEVEN-CHARACTER CALLIGRAPHY COUPLET, INK ON PAPER, HANGING SCROLL 尺寸：L:178cm;W:43cm (x2) 紙本行書對聯，灑金古箋。兩行大字行書，結體端嚴沉雄，筆力遒健，墨色烏亮。左款「滌生曾國藩」，下鈐名印二方。曾氏書法宗柳公權黃山谷，以氣骨取勝。此聯寫七言句，字大氣充，館閣體度，紙本古雅，金屑斑斕。曾國藩（1811–1872），字伯涵，號滌生，湖南湘鄉人。道光十八年進士，出軍機大臣穆彰阿門下。咸豐初以在籍侍郎創辦湘軍，督師太平天國戰事十餘年，官至兩江總督、直隸總督，封一等毅勇侯，諡文正。為晚清桐城派古文中堅，倡導「義理、考據、詞章、經濟」之學。書法早年習柳公權，後參黃山谷行書，結體端嚴，以氣骨取勝。有《曾文正公全集》《家書》傳世。 A paired couplet of two hanging scrolls, running-script calligraphy on gold-flecked antique paper. Two columns of large characters are written in a dignified, powerful running script, the brushwork vigorous and the ink glossy black. At the left the work is signed by Zeng Guofan (Disheng), with two seals. Zeng's calligraphy followed Liu Gongquan and Huang Tingjian, prizing structural strength. The seven-character couplet is large and forceful. Zeng Guofan (1811-1872), born in Xiangxiang, Hunan, passed the jinshi examination in 1838. In the Xianfeng era he raised the Xiang Army to suppress the Taiping Rebellion and rose to Viceroy of Liangjiang and of Zhili, created a first-class Marquis and posthumously titled Wenzheng. He was a leading prose writer of the Tongcheng school. His calligraphy began from Liu Gongquan and absorbed the running script of Huang Tingjian, valued for structural strength.
