英文品名：A QING BLUE-AND-WHITE BASIN PAINTED WITH THE EIGHTEEN LUOHANS 尺寸：L:23cm;H:18cm 青花大缸，斂口鼓腹，下斂圈足。器身通景繪青花十八羅漢圖：羅漢或坐或立，或伏虎、或降龍，形態各異，襯以山石、松樹、祥雲。青花呈色淡雅，人物線條流暢。器型碩大，為清代廳堂陳設或養魚之缸。十八羅漢為釋迦牟尼弟子，自唐代以來成為佛教藝術常見題材。最早為十六羅漢，後加達摩多羅與布袋和尚成十八。羅漢形象各異：降龍羅漢迦葉、伏虎羅漢、沉思羅漢、開心羅漢等，各有標識。清代青花大缸多置廳堂養金魚，或盛儲米、水，通景人物繪於外壁，既可觀賞又防日曝。 A large blue-and-white basin with swollen body and foot ring, painted in a continuous scene of the Eighteen Luohans: some seated, some standing, one taming a dragon and another subduing a tiger, among rocks, pines and clouds. The blue is pale and the figure drawing fluent. The Eighteen Luohans are disciples of Shakyamuni, a standard Buddhist subject since the Tang. Originally sixteen, two more were later added to make eighteen. Each has attributes, the dragon-taming and tiger-subduing Luohans being best known. Large Qing blue-and-white basins were placed in halls to keep goldfish or store water; continuous figure painting on the outside allowed display while shading the water.
