明 白玉黑沁鳳鳥擺件

英文品名：A WHITE JADE PHOENIX WITH DARK ENCRUSTED PATINA 尺寸：L:13.7cm;W:5.3cm;H:3.2cm 白玉質，滿佈黑褐色沁。雕作臥鳳形，昂首闊喙，頸部曲而有力，雙翅斂於身側，羽翅以細陰刻線刻出層次。鳳背之上伏一小鳥，尾端另棲一雛鳥，鳳足下方又有一鳥形附飾，構成子母鳳禽之態。造型古拙，刀工渾樸，沁色深沉，古意盎然。鳳為百鳥之王，雄曰鳳、雌曰凰，象徵祥瑞、太平。此器子母鳳禽：母鳳昂首，背伏小鳥，尾端另棲雛鳥，鳳足下方又有一鳥形附飾，取鳳凰于飛、子孫昌盛之意。古有蕭史吹簫、鳳凰來儀之典；鳳為四靈之一，漢玉多見鳳紋，歷代相承。 A white jade phoenix with deep dark brown encrusted patina. The bird is carved recumbent, head raised with a hooked beak, wings folded at the sides and rendered with fine incised feather lines. A small bird crouches on its back and another perches at the tail, with a third small bird beneath the feet, forming a mother-and-birds grouping. The carving is simple and vigorous, the patina dark and subdued. The phoenix is king of birds, male feng and female huang, an omen of peace and harmony. Here a mother bird is accompanied by chicks on her back, at her tail and beneath her feet, evoking the harmonious flight of the phoenixes and the wish for a flourishing line. Legend tells of Xiao Shi playing the flute until real phoenixes descended to carry him and his bride away; the phoenix is also one of the Four Spirits, and phoenix motifs have long been favoured in jade carving.
